good run, but as you say, the refs and the NHL wanted minnesota in after spending nearly 200$mill on 2 players the past off season.

Good show, I was pulling for you guys.

Any word on whether you're liable to use all three of the picks? Edmonton could be a team looking to trade down.

Sorry to see our run end. This will be the team that we have next season as well, assuming we re-sign Vinny and our restricted FA's. Guessing Aucoin and Comeau will be gone and we'll try to sign 2 forwards, maybe one defenseman since we have Murray to replace Aucoin in the lineup. Also will need a backup goalie, but we have almost 20 mil in cap space. Hopefully the good free agents aren't as apprehensive about coming to Columbus after this season and we can get one top line forward.

Agreed , we did everything that had to be done, instead , the stars play Bachman and the Avs decide to actually play meaningfull hockey after they saw we beat Nashville.

Heck of a run, would have been so nice to see those guys make. I think a bit of an attitude/culture change has occurred in the past couple of months, lets hope it carries over into next season.

Awesome season, CBJ. Maybe think about trading one of those 1sts for Vanek? Maybe not, dont want to mess too much with the chemistry for a guy who is borderline soft, but its worth a thought.

Rinne was out with an undisclosed injury. At least he didn't pull a Marty Brodeur and say he didn't want to play because the game against the Rangers "didn't mean anything."

Yeah, they built an identity based on working hard and playing good defense. They already brought in Gaborik and I'm not sure they'd want to get too far further away from that identity. They could use some more skill but my guess is they'll count on younger guys like Johansen to contribute more next year instead of trying to acquire a guy like Vanek.

What do you guys think of Nikita Nikitin? He was in the dog house earlier in the year was he not?

He would look great in Oil silks. Is he on the move? Would that old Oilers chestnut Hemsky be enticing to the BJs?

Sorry we couldn't help you guys out, I was hoping Dallas would beat Detroit and we would beat Minnesota in extra time so Detroit didn't make it to the dance.

Also, in terms of finding a silver lining: I was pulling for CBJ as hard as the next fan, but if they slid into the 8th seed they probably would've gotten boned by Chicago in 5. At least when they finally make the playoffs (hopefully next year) maybe they'll be in a good enough position to make a real splash

CBJ future seems bright 3 1st round picks in a deep draft cap space to imrpove the offense and what looks like a future franchise goalie.

only question now is what kind of contract does Bobrovsky deserve. He'll probably have a cap hit anywhere from 3.5-5mil a year it all depends on how many years he will get.

My personal opinion of Nikitin may not be as high as the organization's. He is not particularly mobile and can make bad decisions with the puck. His best asset is his hard shot but unfortunately he is not particularly accurate with it. For me he is best suited as a 3rd pair D who can play some minutes on the PP. If you're counting on more then you may be disappointed.

Truthfully I wouldn't be too interested in Hemsky. He just can't stay on the ice and doesn't produce enough despite his high skill level. I'd have more interest in Pajaarvi or Gagner. But I doubt Nikitin would get Gagner.

love the hate. jackets were like the social media darling. if they mad it , it would of been like when they made it last time with Mason. you know, the last time they had a goalie carry the team on his back to make the postseason.

Doesn't really matter much, since you'll get smoked in the playoffs.

I just wanted to say that the jackets deserved to be in the playoffs this year, they busted their asses all year and deserved a better fate. Good luck in the east next year guys.
Next i wanted to talk about the kicking moation. Now this is just my opinion, but i'm of the opinion that the kicking moation rule is flawwed, being an oilers fan i'll use an example of a goal yakupov scored about a week ago. Yakupov was skating foward at the time and trying to stop as he reached the net, as his back foot came foward in what was clearly a glid, not a kick the puck bounced of the toe of his skate and in. The refs called it a goal on the ice but when they whent for review once again much like last night they called it back. In my opinion they need to relize that player can't just stop his skate from hitting the puck when he's gliding, if he's in the right place for it to bounce of his skate then so be it. Now i'm not an nhl player of course but everytime i've tryed to kick a puck i found that i needed to at least lift the back end of my skate a bit to get the toe of the skate on the puck. Maybe nhl players don't need to do that, or theres a skill i haven't been taut or i'm just doing it wrong but i've never been able to kick a puck in while standing still. I've had pucks bounce of the toe of my skate while skating foward and sense thats a normal moation i don't understand why it's called a kick. Maybe my logic is flawwed but i think that rule needs to be changed, lots of game breakers get called back because it's such a judgment call and it's frusterating to see.
